  1. Holy mackeral. This site is looking it my very mind. The questions, and doubts, and uncertainty about DCIS. Is it cancer, is it not? If it’s “precancer” do all the don’ts still apply – like little to no alcohol? And yes, biggest fear right now for me, cancer in my other breast. It took weeks to decide between a lumpectomy or mastectomy. I decided on the mastectomy and now I constantly wake up in the wee morning hours double guessing everything. Do you still meet with the DCIS group in Geneva? I’m in Elmhurst and was thinking about taking a ride out there one of these nights. I swear the reconstruction (which I just recently had 9/25/12) effected me harder than the mastectomy I believe. And I don’t know why!!! My plastic surgeon did a wonderful job. Perhaps the finality of it all. Thanks for this site. I’ve read so many blogs, articles, etc etc etc and NEVER commented on any of them until now. I felt guilty that so many people were going through far worse than I, I didn’t feel worthy enough to comment…until now.

    • Hi Jane,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I’m so glad I’m writing about things you can relate to – it reinforces WHY I’ve created this website for everyone to share anything on their mind. Feel free to email me offline if you want to chat more. My email is info@breastcancerymystory.org. Living Well Cancer Resource Center in Geneva Mastectomy Support Group meets every other Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in their beautiful new building. Check out their website at http://www.livingwellcrc.org for a calendar. I encourage everyone who is faced with breast cancer to seek out a support group or a professional to talk things through. A group of people who have walked in your shoes makes all the difference! My best – Brita
